INFINI™ RF Treatment

What is INFINI™ RF?
Many factors influence how the skin ages, including genetics, hormones, sun exposure, and more. With age, the skin loses not only volume but also elasticity and firmness. These changes result in sagging skin, jowls, deepening creases, and crepe-like skin, all of which can have a profound effect on appearance. To address these issues, many of our patients turn to INFINI RF, a nonsurgical radiofrequency treatment that gets to the heart of cosmetic aging.
INFINI™ radiofrequency (RF) microneedling is a 3-dimensional technique used to improve wrinkles, sagging, and textural changes in the skin. It is especially advantageous for restoring youthfulness to the delicate skin on the face and neck. INFINI is referred to as a 3-dimensional approach because this device combines the power of fractional radiofrequency and microneedling to target changes in the dermis, where the signs of aging and sun damage originate. By targeting this layer of cells, INFINI stimulates an appreciative increase in the production of collagen, the foundation of smooth, firm skin.
Who is a candidate for INFINI™ RF?
Many adults seek INFINI treatment to tighten loose, aging skin. The widespread use of this technology in Europe, South American, and Asia have confirmed that INFINI is also an excellent treatment for adults interested in reducing the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Due to the passage of energy through the epidermis, INFINI is appropriate for tanned skin and darker skin tones as well as all skin types.
How to prepare for INFINI™ RF treatment?
Because INFINI can be performed on all skin tones, it is not necessary to take special precautions before treatment. The microneedling aspect of treatment may produce temporary pinpoint bleeding, so your provider may ask that you avoid aspirin and certain supplements for a few days before your appointment. However, because microchannels close so quickly, this may not be necessary. Your provider will discuss pre-treatment recommendations after your comprehensive consultation.
INFINI™ RF Treatment Overview
Patient comfort is a priority in our offices. Before conducting INFINI RF treatments, our providers apply a topical anesthetic cream to cleansed skin. This numbs surface sensations for the duration of the procedure. To stimulate the collagen remodeling process, the INFINI RF hand-piece is moved across the treatment area in a stamping pattern. Each time the applicator is pressed against the skin, dozens of gold-insulated microneedles gently penetrate the upper layers of tissue. These needles deposit radiofrequency energy into the dermis. Depending on the patient’s needs, this process may be repeated up to three times during the visit.
The effects of microneedling and radiofrequency may include pinpointing bleeding and diffuse redness that resembles a bad sunburn. These side effects are temporary and typically quite mild. Patients typically describe their INFINI RF treatment as only mildly uncomfortable, if at all. The treatment is completed within 45 minutes to an hour.
How long is the recovery for INFINI™ RF treatment?
The redness and pinpoint bleeding that may occur after INFINI RF treatment typically resolve within about 24 hours. However, the skin may feel rough for a few days as the epidermis sheds dead and damaged cells. As this happens, patients can expect to notice improvements in the texture and tone of the skin. After several weeks of increased collagen and elastin production, the skin appears smoother and tighter.
What are the potential side effects of INFINI™ RF?
Side effects of INFINI RF are typically limited to transient redness and tiny spots of bleeding. However, there is also a chance that bruising may occur. To reduce this risk, patients should avoid aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for the week prior to treatment.
Is INFINI™ RF Better Than Ultherapy?
Both INFINI RF and Ultherapy were developed to tighten skin by prompting collagen remodeling in the dermis. One works via radiofrequency energy and the other works via ultrasound energy. Technological differences between the two include:
- Stimulates up to 50,000 stimulation zones to increase collagen.
- Has the dual-action of microneedling and RF energy to tighten skin, decrease pore size, and improve textural irregularities.
- Effectively treats acne scars, traumatic scars, and surgical scars.
- Stimulates up to 10,000 zones
- Uses ultrasound only to correct tissue laxity and nothing more
- Is not used to treat scars
